In the Netherlands, education is mandatory until the age of 18. After that, undocumented students are on their own. They have to go through great lengths in order to continu their education, sometimes with the risk of not being able to re-enter the Netherlands or even the EU. Often they have attended both elementary and high school in The Netherlands with Dutch as their mother tongue.
